Sunday Street Team: Guest Post by Natasha Friend, author of Where You'll Find Me

Sunday Street Team is a street team headed by Nori. There are tours happening every month among a great many bloggers. Check out the introduction page here to see past book tours.

This week I was lucky enough to have author Natasha Friend write not one, but two guest posts for my blog!

Thank you so much, Natasha! These topics are a little off the wall, especially the second one, so thank you (again!) for endeavoring to respond to them.

For those of you that don't know, Natasha's new book, Where You'll Find Me, is coming out March 8th. Two days from now!! You can read a little bit about it below.

In this powerful and buoyant YA novel, a thirteen-year-old girl learns to navigate the shifting loyalities of friendships in middle school and deals with challenges at home.
The beginning of the eighth grade is not what Anna thought it would be. Her lifelong best friend has ditched her for the cool kids, and her mom is in the hospital after a suicide attempt. Anna finds herself where she least expects to: living with her dad, his young new wife, and their baby, and starting a new year at school without a best friend. With help from some unlikely sources, including a crazy girl-band talent show act, Anna learns that sometimes you find what you need to pull you through in the most unlikely places.

There is so much emotion tied to this story. I mean, look at all of the stuff that Anna has to deal with! How many teenagers can handle this sort of emotional roller coaster, much less a 13 year old (okay, technically a teen, but a new one)?

Anyway, I'll be doing a review of this book as well and it'll be posted tomorrow on my typical review day (plus at that point it'll be only one more day until the release!). Thank you here to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me a free copy to review.

All that aside, let's get to the best part of today's post: the guest posts!

The first one is from a question I posed to Natasha: "What are your five favorite books to read in the spring?"

Natasha:

  1. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by Jane Austen
  2. AN ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES by John Green
  3. CHARLOTTE'S WEB by E.B. White
  4. CURVEBALL: THE YEAR I LOST MY GRIP by Jordan Sonnenblick
  5. I'LL GIVE YOU THE SUN by Jandy Nelson
Me again

These are some great choices. I've only read two of these choices (Pride and Prejudice and Charlotte's Web) and I can picture reading them outside, maybe while on a walk or maybe while sitting on a bench or under a tree. *sigh* Time for a reading picnic.

Post number two: Compare three different books to their food equivalent.

Natasha

JERSEY ANGEL by Beth Ann Bauman: fried dough.  Tastes so freaking good that you can’t stop eating it.  Seems light and airy at first, but ultimately fills you up and makes you want to kiss a boy with powdered sugar lips.

THE DISREPUTABLE HISTORY OF FRANKIE LANDEAU BANKS by E. Lockhart: garlic knots. You feel a little rebellious eating them.  Serious carbs.  Serious dragon breath.  But you don’t care.  You’re just going to keep eating those bad boys no matter the consequences, and you’re not going to apologize.

THE GREAT GATSBY: Kale.  You’re pretty sure you’re going to hate it.  You know you’re going to hate it because it has been thrust upon you by your elders.  You have been told, “This is required of you,” and “This is good for you.”
Bite #1: “Huh.”
Bite #2: “Okay, it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever tried.”
Bite #18: “Wait—am I actually enjoying this?”
Bite #180: “Kale is great!  I’m going to tell all my friends about kale!  I can’t wait to write my essay on symbolism and kale!”

Me again

I have no idea where this question came from (my mind is an odd place) but it worked out so well! Of course, reading this post late at night may result in a craving for a midnight snack.

I know I've said it several times already, but once more just in case: thank you, Natasha, for writing these guest posts for me. It was great to get a little insight into you and what sort of books/snacks you like.

That's all for today folks, but don't forget to come back tomorrow for my official review of Where You'll Find Me.

P.S. I almost forgot. There's a great Rafflecopter giveaway, so please check it out so you too can read Where You'll Find Me.

    1. I'm glad you liked it and that it came out so well. I wasn't sure how that would be received, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. :)
